Senior Wesfarmers e-commerce appointment

Wesfarmers today announced the appointment of Mr Rich Krasnoff as Group Director, e-commerce. Managing Director Michael Chaney said that Mr Krasnoff would report directly to him and provide strategic advice and assistance to senior management on electronic commerce issues across the group’s business units.

This would include identification of e-commerce opportunities and coordination of group information services.

"Electronic commerce poses great challenges and presents great opportunities for all Australian businesses," said Mr Chaney.

"Mr Krasnoff's appointment should allow Wesfarmers to develop an approach that best suits its diverse interests."

Mr Krasnoff holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School and joins Wesfarmers after 10 years with the global management consulting firm, McKinsey and Company.

He transferred to the firm’s Australian practice in 1993 and was elected a partner in 1995. During his six and a half years with McKinsey in Australia, Mr Krasnoff was based in Perth but also advised clients in Indonesia, South Africa, New Zealand and eastern Australia.

Mr Chaney said Mr Krasnoff had experience across a range of industries including mining and metals, pulp and paper, oil and gas and building materials encompassing both strategy development and performance improvement. In addition, he had worked extensively on business-to-business marketing issues.
